Company News About EVANT LAUNCHED A NEW RECYCLED TPE PRODUCT TO THE ASIAN MARKET, EXPANDING THE APPLICATION OF RECYCLED MATERIALS IN AUTOMOBILES
As a professional and sustainable material solutions and service provider, Evant Group recently announced the launch of reSound™ REC thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) AF 7210 products containing recycled components to the Asian market. This new TPE product contains 25%-55% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material and was first launched in the European market earlier this year. As a supplement to existing PCR polypropylene (PP) overmolding products, the new product is developed specifically for automotive interior applications such as floor mats, grab handles, and center console trays. The company's launch of these new products in the Asian market will also help meet the relevant requirements for scrapped vehicle recycling and supervision in the Asian region
“Over the past decade, Asian automakers have gradually increased the use of plastics containing PCR materials in automotive interiors, which has greatly boosted the market demand for PCR thermoplastic elastomer solutions, especially those that can achieve excellent overmolding effects on high-performance polymers such as PP,” said Matt Mitchell, Global Marketing Director of Evonik Specialty Engineered Materials Division. “Our newly launched reSound REC AF 7210 TPE series is a timely response to this market trend and helps meet the upcoming regulatory changes in the export market, such as the EU's latest proposed ELV directive, which requires an increase in the content of recycled materials in plastic components.
We have conducted extensive testing with our automotive OEM partners in the laboratory and in real-world applications for the new PCR reSound REC product, and the results fully meet the application requirements related to automotive interiors. They can achieve low odor and low haze while meeting strict VOC limit specifications. They also passed xenon lamp aging and environmental aging tests, and after short-term (6 hours at 100°C) and long-term (500 hours at 90°C) thermal aging tests, no visible defects, deformations, or adhesions occurred.
In addition, Evant can also use its own carbon footprint (PCF) calculator to provide carbon footprint values for new products and other products. The Evant Carbon Footprint (PCF) calculator was developed according to the ISO 14067:2018 standard and has been certified by TÜV Rheinland as a third party.
The new product is specifically developed for injection molding, and can achieve durable bonding performance in PP overmolding. It is available in natural and custom colors, with a hardness range of 40 to 80 (Shore A).
